Police have fined a man for driving with a child on his lap at Teewah Beach last weekend.
Around 2.15pm on Saturday, police intercepted a green Landrover Defender travelling south on the sand in excess of the 40km an hour speed limit.
The driver of the vehicle was also had a 10-year-old boy sitting on his lap.
The 43-year-old Mermaid Beach man was issued a traffic infringement notice (TIN) for driving a vehicle with a passenger at least 7 years old but under 16 years old in the same seat as another passenger.
He also received TINs for speeding more than 20km/h over the limit and using an unregistered vehicle.
He was fined $1295 and four demerit points.
A total of 18 fines were issued at Teewah Beach on the day as part of the continued Operation Sandstorm, with 12 of those for speeding.
Operation Sandstorm is a joint effort between police and Queensland Parks and Wildlife (QPWS) targeting dangerous behaviour at Noosa North Shore, Teewah Beach and Double Island Point.
Officers from the Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol and the Northern Patrol Group undertake routine patrols focused on enforcement and education, to ensure everyone makes it safely to their destination.
