Two firefighting choppers involved in a fatal midair collision in Greece belong to Sunshine Coast-based company McDermott Aviation.
The choppers involved in the incident, while fighting a fire west of Athens, were leased from the local company.
A Danish pilot and a Greek fire service liaison officer died in one of the choppers.
The crew of the other chopper, a British pilot and local crew member, have been taken to hospital.
McDermott Aviation has been sending firefighting helicopters to Greece for a number of years.
Company founder, John McDermott, said “our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families, friends and colleagues of those affected by this tragic incident”.
He said the company is working closely with the relevant authorities and will continue to assist as they undertake their investigation into the incident.
