Man dies in motorbike crash

A motorbike rider has died in a crash in Gympie.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Craft Road and Sandy Creek Road at Veteran around 3.22pm yesterday after reports a 45-year-old Gympie man had been found dead.

Initial investigations indicate the rider sustained critical injuries following a single-vehicle motorbike crash sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police are appealing to anyone with relevant information, including CCTV or dashcam fotage of a black 2009 BMW K1300 motorcycle near the scene of the crash, to come forward.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for public assistance following an assault in Maroochydore earlier this month.

It is alleged at approximately 11.50pm on July 11, a group of eight men approached a 62-year-old man on the beach near Cotton Tree Parade and assaulted him.

The man suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The offenders left the scene in a dark coloured sedan before travelling west along Memorial Avenue.

And police want help from the public to locate a 15-year-old girl who has been missing from the Moreton Bay area since April.

She wasn’t reported missing until July 3.

It’s believed she may be in the Caboolture, Morayfield or Redcliffe areas.

Police and family hold concerns for the girl’s welfare due to her age and medical conditions that require medication.

She is described as approximately 164cm tall with a slim build, tanned skin, dark brown hair and brown eyes.
