Police are investigating after a Currimundi infant was taken to hospital with serious head injuries in April this year.

Around 11pm on April 24, a 9-week-old boy was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.

Detectives are trying to establish how the baby sustained the injuries.

Meanwhile, police have fined a green P plate driver for doing more than double the speed limit in a residential area on Bribie Island during wet weather.

Just after 9.30pm last Wednesday, police intercepted a white Hyundai I30 on Sunderland Drive at Banksia Beach.

It’s alleged the vehicle was travelling 111 kilometres an hour in a 50 zone.

A 19-year-old Banksia Beach man was fined $1919 for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, and his licence was suspended for six months.
