Unitywater is cleaning and inspecting Noosa’s wastewater pipes following all the extra flushes over the busy tourist period.

The maintenance work will occur on Hastings St, Noosa Drive and Park Road from next Monday and last for about two weeks.

Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Delivery, Rhett Duncan, said this preventative maintenance was important to maintain Noosa’s wastewater network and ensure reliable and safe services for the community.

“As a high-profile tourist destination, we want to ensure that our wastewater network is in top operating condition for the peak times during the year,” Mr Duncan said.

“There have been extra flushes over the festive period and we’ve planned these works to take place after the Noosa Festival of Surfing as we know tourist numbers are generally lower at this time to keep any disruptions to a minimum.

“These works will help avoid odours and the potential for wastewater overflows. We have consulted with a number of stakeholders and Noosa Council to carry out the works at the least disruptive time for visitors and businesses, as well as notifying local residents in the vicinity of the works,” Mr Duncan said.

Visitors and motorists can expect some traffic delays between 6am and 6pm as Unitywater crews carry out pressure-cleaning and CCTV inspection of the wastewater mains, one section at a time.

Unitywater has thanked the local community for its patience as the works are carried out.
