Police are investigating a fatal crash at Maroochydore on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to the Big Top shopping centre car park on Ocean Street shortly after 7.30pm following reports a vehicle had driven into a creek.
They found a white Mitsubishi Triton submerged in the water.
The 73-year-old Bli Bli man driving the ute died at the scene.
Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.
Anyone with relevant information or vision of the incident is urged to contact police.
Meanwhile, police have charged a man following an alleged stabbing on Ocean Street in Maroochydore early on Sunday morning.
It’s alleged a 32 year-old Maroochydore man and a 20 year-old man from Bli Bli had an argument around 4.20am.
It’s alleged the older man then stabbed the Bli Bli man five times in the chest and stomach.
He was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The Maroochydore man is charged with one count of wounding and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
And Sunshine Coast and Child Trauma detectives have charged a 30 year-old man with critically injuring a 9-week-old child at Currimundi in April.
Police allege around 11pm on April 24, the baby boy was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives started investigations to find out what caused the child’s injuries.
During the investigation they focused on the six-week period from when the child was born until he was admitted to hospital.
Police allege the boy received several serious injuries, including extensive brain and optical trauma, as well as multiple fractures.
The Currimundi man, who is known to the child, was arrested at Warana on Saturday.
He has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm as a domestic violence offence against a child.
He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
