KFC, launches Upside Down Double nationwide

Get ready for the ultimate crossover as two iconic worlds collide in a deliciously strange event set deep beneath Sydney.

To celebrate the final season of Stranger Things streaming on Netflix, KFC Australia is taking fans on a mind-bending journey straight to the heart of Hawkins, Indiana, and introducing a taste sensation that’s an 11/10. Prepare to descend into the Upside Down with the opening of the world’s first subterranean KFC, ‘Hawkins Fried Chicken’, nestled deep within Sydney’s abandoned Wynyard Station Tunnels.

But the deliciously strange news doesn’t stop there, because KFC is bringing the brand-new Upside Down Double to restaurants nationwide for a limited time from 2nd December. 

What’s a trip to the Upside Down without a taste of something truly out of this world?

Introducing the brand-new Upside Down Double – a feed so uniquely delicious, it could only come from another dimension.

This masterpiece features two of KFC’s iconic Original Crispy fillets, sandwiching a soft bun in the middle, layered with crispy bacon, cheese, and a generous serving of KFC’s brand-new, Stranger Sauce. 

It’s a flavour combination that’ll transport tastebuds straight to the Upside Down, and attendees at Hawkins Fried Chicken will be among the very first to try it before its nationwide launch.

Stepping into Hawkins Fried Chicken is like walking through a rift in time and space.

Guests will journey through an immersive Stranger Things tunnel and experience a meticulously recreated 80s diner straight from the town of Hawkins, just as it would have looked in 1987.

The air will hum with classic 80s tunes from a vintage jukebox, arcade games will beckon, and every detail will transport you directly into the heart of the show. Not only will attendees score free KFC, including the brand-new Upside Down Double ahead of its nationwide launch, Hawkins Fried Chicken will also be serving KFC chips, Original Recipe Chicken buckets and brand-new Saucy Wings straight from the KFC Secret Menu. Plus, KFC is reviving beloved 80s menu items including The Works Burger and 80s Bean Salad, available exclusively and for free at this epic event.

Fans will also be able to purchase exclusive Stranger Things x KFC merch from the KFC website, including denim jackets, t-shirts, caps and jumpers. Proceeds from merchandise sales will go directly to the KFC Youth Foundation, which supports youth mental health and wellbeing through its charity partners, ReachOut Australia and Black Dog Institute.
