Sony’s latest State of Play was an absolute “Marathon”, clocking in at over an hour of “shut up and take my money” moments. From the return of the OG God of War to a literal tactical octopus, there was a lot to digest.

We’ve sifted through the mountain of trailers and announcements so you don’t have to. Here is the lowdown on the heavy hitters and the hidden gems that’ll be draining our wallets this year.

The Big Guns: Kratos is Back (Twice)

Santa Monica Studio decided to end the show by essentially dropping the mic. Not only is a remake of the original God of War Greek trilogy officially in development, but they also pulled a “Beyoncé” and shadow-dropped God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action platformer. It’s out right now on PS5 and a bold move, honestly, playing as Kratos in side-scrolling form feels like the nostalgic hit we didn’t know we needed.

Licensed Legends: Bond and Wick

IO Interactive gave us a proper look at 007 First Light. This isn’t your grandfather’s Bond; it’s an origin story set in Iceland where a young James is trying to get on MI6’s radar. It looks slick, cold, and appropriately sophisticated.

Ghost of Yōtei Legends

March 10 we’ll get Ghost of Yōtei Legends launches. This supernaturally-charged, cooperative multiplayer update, will be available to all Ghost of Yōtei players as part of the game’s 1.5 update.

On the grittier side of things, Saber Interactive teased a John Wick title. We don’t have a date yet, but they’re promising “gun-fu” and intense driving. If they can capture even half of the film’s kinetic energy, we’re in for a treat. Just, please, leave the dog alone this time.

The Return of the Classics

The nostalgia was laid on thick this broadcast. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is coming to PS5, and with the teams behind Dead Cells (Evil Empire and Motion Twin) involved, the 2D exploration is bound to be pixel-perfect.

We also saw:

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered: Arriving 3 March, including a demo of the cancelled sequel, Dark Prophecy.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2: Launching 27 August, finally bringing MGS4 out of PS3 purgatory.

A New Breed of Indie and Third-Party

Beast of Reincarnation (out 4 August) caught my eye with its “one-person, one-dog” mechanic. You play as an outcast named Emma with her “dangerous” dog Koo in a sci-fi Japan. The blend of real-time swordplay and turn-based commands for your pup looks genuinely fresh.

Meanwhile, Capcom showed off Pragmata (24 April) and the launch trailer for Resident Evil Requiem (27 February). It seems Capcom is determined to keep us both intrigued and terrified in equal measure.

Don’t Sleep on These Demos

If you’re itching to play something right now, keep an eye on the store tomorrow. Mina the Hollower and Darwin’s Paradox are both getting demos. The latter even features a “Tactical Octopus Action” demo inspired by Metal Gear Solid. It’s weird, it’s squishy, and I’m here for it.

We’ll keep you across everything PlayStation in 2026 including one massive title that drops really soon.

Marathon drops on March 5 but Bungie has announced n Server Slam on Feb 26. PS5 players will be able to experience select content from the full game, as well as earn a tiered gear package and grab a special emblem and banner which will be available in the full experience.
