Watch the New Teaser Trailer: “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”

Nintendo, Universal Pictures, and Illumination have just dropped the latest official teaser trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s blockbuster, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”

The original film soared to global success, grossing an astounding $1.361 billion. This monumental achievement made it the second-highest-grossing film of 2023, the third-highest-grossing animated film ever, and the eighteenth-highest-grossing film of all time.

The original voice cast is returning, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining them are Brie Larson as the voice of Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. This star-studded ensemble will lead the film as the centerpiece of the Mario character’s 40th anniversary celebration.

While the “Super Mario Galaxy” games’ narrative will form the core of the new film’s storyline, producers promise a few surprises for fans of every Mario era.

If you haven’t played the “Galaxy’ games, Nintendo recently released them as remasters and they hold up really well on the new Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

During the Mushroom Kingdom’s centennial Star Festival, Bowser launches a massive attack, uprooting Princess Peach’s castle and carrying it, along with Peach, to the center of the universe where he plans to create a new galaxy and rule the cosmos. Mario is blasted away but awakens on a small planet and meets Rosalina, the protector of the Lumas and caretaker of the Comet Observatory, which Bowser has rendered immobile by stealing its Power Stars. Aided by a special Luma, who grants him the ability to spin and travel through space, Mario embarks on a grand, galaxy-hopping adventure to reclaim the Power Stars, restore power to the Comet Observatory, and ultimately reach Bowser’s grand galaxy to defeat him and rescue Princess Peach before the universe is consumed by a black hole.

The film’s Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are back at the helm, with Brian Tyler composing the score, which will skillfully weave in musical themes from the iconic games.

The trailer made its grand debut during a the latest Nintendo Direct presentation and has us all excited for what is to come from the franchise.
