Police have charged two teenagers following investigations into a vehicle fire in Moffat Beach last week.
Sometime between 1am and 3am last Thursday, it’s alleged a black Denza B8 station wagon and a white Volkswagen Passat were stolen from a home on Roderick Street.
At 4.24am, police and emergency services were called to Seaview Terrace to reports the Denza was on fire on the sand.
The vehicle was destroyed in the blaze.
The Volkswagen was located abandoned and undamaged a short distance away.
It is also alleged the offenders then attempted to enter multiple other vehicles and addresses in the area, including an Isuzu D-Max on Glenary Avenue, from which a wallet was stolen.
Police went to a property on River Esplanade in Mooloolaba on Sunday and arrested a 19-year-old Nambour man and a 16-year-old Hervey Bay girl.
The man has since been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle at night in company and enter premise and commit indictable offence, as well as one count each of arson, wilful damage, enter dwelling and commit, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, attempted enter dwelling with intent at night in company, driving with a suspended license and possessing a knife in a public place.
He was also charged with three counts of fraud and two drug offences.
The girl has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter premise and commit indictable offence, one count each of arson, enter premise with intent to commit indictable offence, enter dwelling and commit, attempt enter dwelling with intent at night in company and possess used utensils or pipes, as well as three counts of fraud.
Meanwhile, police investigating a serious crash on the Bruce Highway at Banya on Saturday afternoon are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant vision to come forward.
Around 1.15pm a southbound Hino flatbed truck collided with the rear end of a southbound Volvo semi-trailer.
The driver and passenger of the Hino were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency services.
The driver of the Hino, a 57-year-old Creastmead man, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with head and limb injuries.
He is in a stable condition.
The passenger, a 50-year-old Jimboomba woman, sustained a minor injury to her foot and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.
The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo, a 27-year-old Goodna man, was not physically injured.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, and anyone who may have relevant dashcam vision is urged to contact police.
And the Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a child to hospital after she fell from her bicycle in Cambroon, south of Kenilworth yesterday.
The girl suffered facial injuries and was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
