A 14-year-old boy has tragically passed away, days after getting struck by a car near Gympie.
Levi Hanna was crossing Tin Can Bay Road at Canina after getting off the school bus with his sister last Wednesday afternoon, when he was hit by a Hyundai i30.
He was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane in a critical condition, where he sadly died from his injuries over the weekend.
The young teen is being described as an adventurous young man who loved friends, fishing and footy; who could always see the funny side and make everyone smile.
The community is rallying around the teen’s family, with Gympie Devils Junior Rugby League Club holding a candlelight vigil on Saturday night to say goodbye.
Dozens of people turned out, wearing their Akubras in honour of Levi.
A Go Fund Me page to help support Levi’s family has raised more than $20,000.
