Detectives have charged a 23-year-old Marcoola man following an alleged shooting incident at Edge Hill, Cairns.
The arrest follows an alleged altercation on March 28, where two vehicles crashed and one person discharged a firearm at another person before leaving the scene.
It will be alleged the two people involved were known to each other.
Following extensive investigations, detectives have executed a search warrant at a Lawnton address on April 8 where police seized firearms, ammunition, dangerous drugs, a sum of cash, and mobile phones.
A 23-year-old was taken into custody at the address.
He has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of firearms, possession of dangerous drug – (methylamphetamine) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (MDMA) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (Cocaine) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (Anabolic Steroid), possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence (cash), and contravening order.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 3.
On April 4, detectives from Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 43-year-old Edge Hill man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was issued with a Notice to Appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on May 2.
