The search for a young man missing off Teewah Beach has now been scaled back.
The 21-year-old swimmer was swept out to sea in a rip on Saturday, January 21.
A large scale land, water and aerial search was immediately launched, utilising police, water police, the POLAIR helicopter, SLSQ vessels, drone and helicopter and a community helicopter.
The search continued for four days, before efforts were officially wound back on January 25.
A QPS spokesperson says police investigations into the 21-year-old man’s disappearance are ongoing.
“Going forward, POLAIR and other police assets will continue to search the area when possible.”
“Police remain in contact with and are providing support to the family of the man.”
