Police are investigating a number of anti-social incidents at the Imbil Rodeo and post-event camping on the weekend.
Around 1am on Sunday, a 19-year-old Coolum Beach man sustained head injuries in an alleged assault in the campgrounds at Imbil Showgrounds and was taken to Gympie Hospital for treatment.
In an unrelated incident, officers arrested and charged a 27-year-old Minyama man with serious assault of a police officer, while pretending to be armed, following an altercation at the campgrounds around 1.10am.
He was remanded in custody and is due to face Gympie Magistrates Court on November 4.
Police are also investigating another assault reported to have occurred at the event around 10.30pm on Saturday.
As part of police operations at the event, seven move on directions were issued, and two men were issued with public nuisance offences.
Over the weekend, police conducted more than 800 random breath tests, issued 48 traffic infringement notices, and 8 drivers were charged with other traffic offences including drink driving and unlicensed driving.
Imbil Sergeant Andrew White said there was no place for violence and anti-social behaviour and police will not tolerate it.
“Police will be working with the relevant stakeholders including the event organisers and security providers in planning for any future events, with some changes expected to address the anti-social issues identified,” Sergeant White said.
“Police want to ensure everyone can enjoy the event in a safe environment.”
