Police are asking for assistance from the public in relation to a road rage incident where a driver allegedly attacked another vehicle while a young child was inside.
Last Sunday between 6.15pm and 6.45pm, the driver of a white 2015 Holden Colorado was travelling southbound on the Bruce Highway from Gympie to Caboolture with his 4-year-old daughter in the back rear passenger seat.
Just after the on ramp from the Sunshine Motorway at Sippy Downs, the driver noticed a light workman’s truck with concreting type equipment in the back driving in the right lane.
The driver of the Colorado was in the left lane and indicated to merge right in front of the truck.
Once merged the truck driver is alleged to have hit the rear end of the Colorado, the driver being forced back into the left lane fearful of further collisions.
It is alleged the truck driver sped up and merged back into the left lane in front of the other driver and blocked the Colorado from passing.
It is further alleged the Colorado driver slowed down and pulled off the road into what he believed was an emergency stopping bay north of the Palmview exit and just prior to the Caloundra exit, the truck also pulling over in front of them.
The truck driver allegedly produced weapons and smashed the Colorado’s front head lights, damaged the bonnet and shattered the rear passengers window where his daughter was sitting.
Anyone who saw the vehicles or witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage are asked to contact Policelink on 131 444.
