Local police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an alleged rape at a Sunshine Coast beach last year to contact them.
A 23-year-old man from Townsville has been charged with one count of rape and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
Police allege the man was at Mooloolaba Beach with a teenage girl when he raped and pushed her into the ocean between 10.30pm on November 30 and 1am on December 1, 2024.
Detectives from the Maroochydore Child Protection and Investigation Unit are asking any possible witnesses to come forward.
The man hasn’t entered a plea to either charge at this stage and he is due to reappear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on February 24.
