Your Friday afternoon walk around Noosa Headland might be a little hazy today.

A planned burn is happening in the headland section of Noosa National Park on Friday November 18, weather permitting.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting the burn, as part of the annual hazard reduction and conservation management program for parks and forests.

As a result, smoke may be seen in the areas surrounding Sunshine Beach, Noosa Heads, Noosa Junction, Noosaville and Sunrise Beach.

The aim of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas, to help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.

QPWS says smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.
