Men winched from ocean after boat overturns

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight rescue chopper crew rescued three people from the ocean off Noosa yesterday.

The rescue chopper aeromedical team was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority yesterday morning.

The three men in their 50s and 60s were in an 8-metre boat when it overturned.

They were found 9kms off Noosa Heads and a LifeFlight rescue crew officer was winched down to retrieve them.

One patient was treated by the critical care doctor and flight paramedic for a head abrasion.

The trio was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
