It’s expected to take months to recover from the flooding that inundated hundreds of homes and businesses in Moreton Bay.
Moreton Mayor, Peter Flannery, said Caboolture and surrounding areas have been hard hit by the flooding rain with up to a metre of water through many properties.
He said their cars have been damaged while sports fields and parks have also been affected.
Numerous roads remain closed and four people spent last night in the Caboolture evacuation centre.
Council has applied for disaster funding and Councillor Flannery said Queensland Fire and Emergency Services teams will continue to assess the damage today.

Cr Flannery said it is particularly difficult as many of the people impacted by the flooding were also hit in the 2022 flood.
Meanwhile, the Sunshine Coast Council’s acting disaster manager, Jason Membery, said the SES responded to almost 200 calls on the southern end of the coast yesterday as flash flooding ripped through some homes and businesses.
Damage assessment teams will be working today and Mr Membery said it is too early to gauge the impact of flooding.
