Police followed the SUV into Church Street where officers attempted to intercept the vehicle and it allegedly failed to stop.

On Maroochydore Road a short time later, police were able to position their vehicle in front of the car and officers approached the female driver and sole occupant.

They claim the woman then yelled at them, before accelerating heavily, hitting the police vehicle and speeding off.

Maroochydore police have now released images of a woman who may be able to assist with their investigations.

Anyone who recognises her is asked to contact police.
