Crow’s nest takes out power to hundreds of homes

Energex crews are working to restore power to hundreds of homes on the Sunshine Coast.

The lights went out at more than 1,500 homes and businesses across Buddina, Warana, Minyama and Parrearra in the early hours of this morning, also taking out street and traffic lights along Nicklin Way.

A crow’s nest on the powerlines sparked the incident, however when Energex crews arrived to fix the issue they also found a secondary fault.

They managed to restore power to around 900 customers by 6am, and aim to have the other 683 back online by 9am.
