It’s believed a bat touching powerlines was the cause of an outage in Gympie’s CBD this morning.
The lights went out to 537 properties around 4.45am.
An Energex spokesperson says there was some damage to the network following a bat-strike.

Crews attended the scene and managed to get the lights back on to around 300 businesses and homes by 7am.
Emergency repairs were still underway to fix the damage and restore power to the remaining 227 customers as of 8am.
