Animal rescue volunteers urgently needed post-pandemic

The RSPCA is in urgent need of more volunteers to help care for animals at its shelters in Noosa and Gympie.

The organisation has nearly 3,000 volunteers across the state, but says post-pandemic, numbers have declined as more people return to work.

Spokesperson Emma Lagoon says volunteers are the lifeblood of the charity.

“We’re really hoping that people in the community would like to also volunteer and help out one day a week if they can, for a few hours, just so we can rescue animals and get them the care that they need.”

The service is looking for animal care assistants in Noosa and Gympie, as well as a wildlife assistant at Eumundi.

The Gympie region is also in need of an Animal Transfer Driver, op shop helper and someone to assist with gardening and maintenance around its facilities.

A full list of volunteer positions can be found here.
