COMPETITION PICKLEBALL ON SHOW AT NOOSA

Noosa Pickleball Club is proud to be hosting their annual Noosa Doubles Classic Tournament at the Noosa
Leisure Centre, proudly supported by Noosa Council. This fast-growing sport has caught the attention of all
age groups, not only locally, but throughout Australia and the World.
The sport’s rapid growth means it remains a potential candidate for future Olympic inclusion, particularly
for the 2032 Games in Australia.
This is your chance to not only view amateur players at the top level, but also players at different levels,
including some playing their first tournament.
Club President Nick Hooper says “Our sport is low cost, addictive and inclusive. Our members love the social
side of the game and the fun completive environment that creates friendship and promotes being active.”
This tournament features doubles only, with men’s, ladies and mixed competition. It is run on a round
robin system, with winners playing off for gold, silver and bronze medallions in age groups and levels.
Nick Hooper also says “We look forward to being able to hold more tournaments, and more importantly
larger tournaments, that include all age groups, singles and doubles. The sport brings people to the area,
Noosa as we know is a highly sought-after destination, and bringing pickleball players in to play at
tournaments, on holidays and inter club competitions, brings much to our local economy.”
Margot Tredinnick, Pickleball Australia referee, a Noosa club member from its inception, is the head
referee for the tournament. Margot says, “I travel widely playing and refereeing and have witnessed the
growth of this sport and our club. There is something special about playing with your friends and seeing
their improvements and the increase in level of play. Pickleball is a game that requires cooperation and
courtesy and a sense of fair play. When applying the rules, the opponent always gets the benefit of doubt.
With over 400 members, currently from 14 to 80+ years of age, the club is growing each month. The club is
at a turning point. Noosa needs dedicated pickleball courts and a place for everyone to play. The club is
building that future now. Currently in 2026 the club is running league for competitive players, social
sessions, intergenerational sessions for seniors and teenagers, free community come and try sessions and
coaching opportunities for players. Local businesses who are interested in supporting the club with these
ventures through sponsorship and assisting the club to find their own dedicated home, are invited to
contact the club.
