And all around him to quiver in fear as he walked by them. For all of them knew no one could stand between him and his mission. That man? Christopher Nolan. That mission? Make another epic that must be seen in cinemas.

The visionary behind legendary films such as Interstellar, Oppenheimer, Inception, Tenet and even The Dark Knight Trilogy is back for his next block buster film. Christopher Nolan might just be the director of the 2010’s/2020’s that the future looks back too as one of the greatest of our generation let alone of all time. But his next film takes us to a land he’s not yet explored with us yet. Mythology.

In his prior work Christopher Nolan has explored space, time, historical events, Batman, and some weird dream things a lot of us still unsure of. But his newest film The Odyssey, based on the book, explores greek mythology. Starring an incredibly experienced and expansive cast which includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Ryan Hurst, Jovan Adepo, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, James Remar, Samantha Morton, and John Leguizamo. The new film is based on Homer’s The Odyssey, which tells the tale of Odysseus, King of Itaca, who wanders for 10-years trying to find his way home after the trojan war. The original set of poems feature Greek Gods, mythical beasts, gruesome war and violence. It’ll be interesting to see how Nolan intends to handle the more mythical element of the tale. Will he go dive head first into the story and put to screen cyclops and other beasts, or will he take a similar approach to how he handled his Batman trilogy and try to ground it in reality.

You can catch the Odyssey when it releases it theatres on the 17th of July 2026.
