A man has been charged after police allegedly seized more than 20 firearms, weapons and ammo from a Kilkivan property.
Officers searched the property in relation to alleged breaches of a domestic violence order on Sunday.
It will be alleged, during the search police located several shot guns, rifles, pistols, firearm parts, ammunition, a mace, drug utensils, chemicals and a stolen Queensland firearms licence.
A 45-year-old Kilkivan man has been charged with three counts of contravention of a domestic violence order, and one count each of unlawful possession of ten or more weapons, unlawful possession of weapons category M, possessing relevant substances, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), fail to dispose of needle and syringe and receiving tainted property.
He was remanded in custody and faced the Gympie Magistrates Court yesterday.
Gympie Patrol Group Chief Inspector Mike Miley said police were pleased to remove these weapons from the community.
“It is concerning that this man was allegedly in possession of a significant quantity of unlicenced firearms,” Chief Inspector Miley said.
“Operation Black Snake is part of ongoing work to target high-risk domestic and family violence offenders, and support victim-survivors.
